2-Year Limited Warranty

Effective Date: April 23, 2026  ·  Wildwood, Georgia

1. Overview

McDermott Studios offers an optional 2-Year Limited Warranty on eligible products for an additional fee at the time of purchase. This warranty reflects our commitment to craftsmanship and our confidence in the quality of our handcrafted woodworking products.

This warranty is transferable and may be passed to a new owner if the product is gifted or resold, provided the original proof of purchase and warranty documentation accompany the transfer.

2. Warranty Eligibility

The 2-Year Limited Warranty is available for purchase on all standard and custom products sold by McDermott Studios. The warranty must be purchased at the time of the original product order and cannot be added after the sale is completed.

3. What the Warranty Covers

This warranty covers defects directly attributable to workmanship under normal use and conditions, including:

  • Structural failures caused by faulty joinery, assembly, or construction techniques
  • Material defects present at the time of manufacture that affect the product's intended function
  • Finish failures (cracking, peeling, or delamination) not caused by environmental exposure or improper care

Coverage begins on the date of delivery or customer pickup and remains in effect for 24 months from that date.

4. What the Warranty Does Not Cover

The following are expressly excluded from coverage:

  • Damage caused by storms, flooding, high winds, lightning, hail, or other acts of nature
  • Damage caused by negligence, misuse, abuse, or accidental damage by the owner or any third party
  • Damage resulting from improper use or use for purposes other than the product's intended function
  • Normal wear and tear, including natural weathering, fading, or checking (minor surface cracking) of wood over time
  • Damage caused by improper maintenance, harsh chemicals, or failure to follow care instructions
  • Damage caused by modifications or alterations made to the product after purchase
  • Products used in commercial or industrial settings unless agreed upon in writing at time of sale
  • Cosmetic damage that does not affect the structural integrity or intended function of the product

5. Proof of Purchase Requirement

All warranty claims must be accompanied by: (a) original proof of purchase with order ID number, and (b) for transferred warranties, documentation confirming the transfer from the original purchaser. Claims submitted without the required documentation cannot be processed.

6. How to Submit a Warranty Claim

  • Step 1: Contact McDermott Studios via email or the contact form on our Site. Include your name, order ID number, a description of the defect, and photographs clearly showing the issue.
  • Step 2: Our team will review your claim and respond within 5–7 business days. Additional information may be requested.
  • Step 3: If approved, McDermott Studios will determine whether repair or replacement is the appropriate remedy based on the nature and extent of the defect.
  • Step 4: If the product must be returned, McDermott Studios will provide return instructions. Shipping costs for warranty returns will be addressed on a case-by-case basis as part of the claim review.

7. Warranty Remedies

Upon approval of a valid warranty claim, McDermott Studios will, at its sole discretion, provide one of the following remedies:

  • Repair: McDermott Studios will repair the defective product to restore it to its original functional condition
  • Replacement: McDermott Studios will replace the defective product with the same or a comparable product of equal value

Approved remedies will be completed within a reasonable timeframe, typically 4–6 weeks from claim approval depending on repair complexity and materials availability. McDermott Studios will communicate any expected delays. The determination of whether repair or replacement is appropriate will be made by McDermott Studios based on the nature of the defect, parts availability, and extent of the damage. McDermott Studios' decision on the appropriate remedy is final.

8. Warranty Transferability

This warranty is transferable to a subsequent owner of the product. The original purchaser must provide the new owner with the original proof of purchase and order ID number. The warranty period does not reset upon transfer and remains tied to the original purchase date.

9. Limitation of Liability

THIS WARRANTY IS THE SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE WARRANTY PROVIDED BY MCDERMOTT STUDIOS. ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, ARE HEREBY DISCLAIMED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

McDermott Studios' total liability under this warranty shall not exceed the original purchase price of the product. In no event shall McDermott Studios be liable for incidental, consequential, indirect, or punitive damages of any kind.

Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary from state to state.
